We hope that you will support our aims and join us in commemorating the events which gave us one of the most inspiring stories of the human spirit.
Jason Nitz, Expedition Founder
The ISCE2012 had a strong presence at the recent Scott Centenary Weekend, Plymouth. The weekend coincided with the centenary of Captain Scott’s last birthday. Attendees enjoyed a full and varied programme of talks, concerts, a play, a tour of relevant sights of the city and a culminating memorial dinner.
The ISCE2012 stall displayed expeditionary artefacts like early 20th century wooden skis, some five times the weight of modern ones. An accomplished bust by Kathleen Scott (who trained with Rodin) sat next to Scott’s disciplinary logbook from his days at Dartmouth College – his days of ‘skylarking’ a world away from the leadership responsibilities he shouldered in later years. ISCE2012 staff and shortlisted candidates from The Telegraph’s competition manned the stall, answering probing questions about expedition diets, emergency contingency plans, lessons plans for the schools outreach programme, preparatory physical conditioning and a host of other issues.
Antony Jinman gave a warmly received presentation on ISCE2012 activities. This was followed by a lively discussion of technical, logistical and philosophical matters. The atmosphere was sparky and supportive.

In addition, a Scott Centenary Business Networking Event was held over the course of the Centenary Weekend,
at Admiralty House, Plymouth. The event was well attended and provided a useful meeting forum
for many local businesses.
