Captain Scott was one of the great Naval heroes of the 20th century; with this in mind I am delighted to support the Expedition and their campaign to raise public awareness, not only of the achievements of Scott and his team, but also of his continuing legacy and relevance in the modern era.

The 10 candidates which successfully made it through the first round of the ISCE/Telegraph competition for a place on the ISCE sledge party, were invited to attend a further selection and training event at HMS Raleigh, courtesy of the Royal Navy, from 3-6th April 2011. Here, at one of the top leading Navy training establishments, they were stretched physically and psychologically with tests and exercises which raw Navy recruits take weeks to achieve.
On behalf of the entire ISCE team, we would like to express our gratitude to HM Royal Navy and to the Captain and staff of HMS Raleigh in particular. Thank you! Our thanks also go to Blacks Leisure Group for sponsoring the kit for this event.
