Supporting the ISCE...

We hope that you will support our aims and join us in commemorating the events which gave us one of the most inspiring stories of the human spirit.

Jason Nitz, Expedition Founder

Selection Events

Such is the fierce and dangerous environment of the Antarctic, even today, that the process of selecting a team mate is not one to be rushed. Just as in Scott's day, not only do prospective sledgers need to be physically fit but they also need to be psychologically strong, to be loyal, and to possess personal integrity and courage.

As such it has been decided to work the ten shortlisted candidates from the ISCE/Telegraph competition into the ISCE team, so that they may all experience preparing for an expedition, the challenge of fundraising and also take part in the education and outreach work. In addition they will attend a series of challenging selection events over the next few months before the final winner and reservist are chosen.

Whoever is finally chosen, we hope that the young people who have been shortlisted as the Telegraph Ten will all gain some extraordinary life-skills and experiences through the ISCE process - emerging with stronger c.vs and wider abilities. In this way we hope that they will all be rewarded positively for their passion about Scott, science and education - going on to lead richer lives for themselves and others as a result.

Selection events can be viewed via the News tab on the main tool bar at the top of the page or through the links below.
